The Government of Japan, in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations, requires foreign nationals who do not possess an address in Japan to give the information of their nationalities and passport numbers in addition to their names, addresses and contact information, etc. in the register of lodgers when staying at a lodging. The presentation of passports is also required by the Government of Japan.
